Thanks a lot for the information, guys, a lot of very good replys. I appreciate them. Actually, it was the Elite 3200 that I had picked out, but wanted to see what other people thought of them, before I bought one.
One of my first scopes was a Bushnel Scope Chief, 2.5. OK for hunting and in those years the lower powered ones were most popular. I still have the scope, but it developed paralax too bad to use. Doesn't seem to be anyway to take it out. My first variable was a Redfield, 2 x 7, the type where the reticule appeared larger as the power was increased! Then it gave trouble, I sent it to the factory in the states and they gave me a whale of a deal on a new one, direct from their factory in Colorado. My favourite for hunting is a Redfield 1 x 4. Wow, has that ever got a wide field of view at zero power, where it is perfect in the bush. We have had a couple of older Banners, one 2 x 8 was good, one shook loose. Haven't bought a new one for quite a few years, thus my request for info. Bruce
