I figued out the feeding issues with my Savage 64 and havent had any problems since. But now that I can fire it I've noticed the scope slides forward. I got it cranked right down and it still slid ahead. Still shoots stright but it would be nice to have it stay where I set it, it only stopped when it hit the stock rear sight.

Thanks

Are the rings and scope moving as one or is the scope sliding forward in the rings?
As Wpg TM said, think about a better set of rings. Some of the Chinese ones are horrible.

the rings are ok, its where it clamps into the top of the action.
Here's pics

The rings appear to be the inexpensive ones marketed for 22's. There is nothing on the ring for it to "bite" into the dovetail on the receiver. Pick up some Weaver TO (Tip-Off) rings for the 3/8's dovetail. They have a serrated tab that will sink into the receiver. They'll work better than those ones.

I had the same issue with my Lakefield MK11 years ago.Tried 3 different types of rings, same thing.I ended up buying air rifle rings with a recoil stop. All it is is a pin in the bottom half of one ring that fits into a hole in the receiver. The receiver didn't have the matching hole,so I drilled one.Worked like a charm. There are probably better methods but that's all could find at the time.

I was just looking at the Savage website and it appears that the 64 is also drilled and tapped.Your best bet would be to get a set of Weaver bases and use Weaver type rings.

The standard fix for this is a set screw in one ring base to tighten against the rail and prevent movement. You can drill and tap on of your ring bases or buy a set.

Bubba (folk smith) warning...

I adore my 64's, but only had one that was "slippery" like this. I dab locktite on the screws for mounting, so on this one I put a dab on the claws too. Cleaned up excess and it's invisible. Held now for 5+ years. When time comes to remove the rings, all "evidence" can be removed too.
