Scope Mount And Rings For M305?

ARMS 18 mount, #22M rings and a set of good irons. The #22M rings let you take off your scope and use the irons within seconds and return the scope without loss of zero. They're not cheap but well worth the money.

Smith Enterprises Mount and either ARMS #22 rings (if you want the QD feature), or TPS, Smith rings.

The ARMS #18 mount sits too lower over the action and has too many noted issues with ejected cases hitting the edge of the mount and falling back into the action causing stoppages.

The Smith mount also has a longer top rail for optic placement.

I have used most of the M14 mounts out there and the Smith mount is the best one.

Where can the Smith mount be had? And rings, or will any 1" rings be good?

Sorry to bring up a question like this for the who knows how manyith time..........

Question:

SMITHS rings or ARMS #22 rings with the ARMS mount? The SMITHS seem rock solid, but there is the flexibility of the easily removed rings that keep their zero. I have the SMITHS now but am looking at swapping to the ARMS.

Anyone have experience with both?

Did I hear my name being mentioned?

Well....I have an answer for you, If going with the #2024 mount I would suggest an asms set up.

I have a #2024 mount that I tried to mount the Smith GI mounts on and the center pin is set up for a 1913 rail, not the weaver rail on the #2024. You could dremal the center pin a few thou and the smith rings would be fine.....but that means grinding a very $$$ set of rings.

I have sold a few packages of #2024 mounts with the Smith rings and have not heard of any issues, so it may just be this one set of rings that I've had for about 5 years. The mount I currently have is one of the Melonite treated (mil-spec) mounts that were treated by accident and were sold for a much higher price than the regular #2024's. I don't know if this added treatment may be thicker than on the regular mounts or the rings are an older style although they do work on the #2006.

I have a set of ARMS that I tried on the #2024 no problem.

So verdict

Smith #2024 mount, weaver rings and Arms rings
Smith #2006 mount.......any and all rings.

Skullboy should say, that the Arms #18 mount sits too low for him. No offence skullboy. :) I love my #18, it sits just about as low as it can get. It works fine for me. It has my vote!

Actually he is referring to a large collective of people that have had jamming/stove pipping issues with the newer solid rail Arms #18.
I have an old style (split rail) and will sell my norc before I sell that mount.
There have been a lot of concerns with the new style mounts being so low. This is my main reason for suggesting a Brookfield type mount (Smith, Sadlack and others) Not that I rely on my M14 for keeping me alive but I would be very frustrated with a M14 that doesn't shoot 100% of the time.

If you buy an Arms #18......be aware that you can't be a slacker on the cleaning......the action mmust be clean and it might jam.

My first M14s had abour 2300 rounds through it before I cleaned it....and it never FTF. There is no way I could have used the new #18

girlsgunsandfastbikes, do you have a pic of the two piece ARMS #18? I'm thinking I might get mine milled, or maybe use a Dremel and make a two piece out of it.:)

Sorry to butt in....this mount is actually a universal M14 mount....everything will work....as you stated Acog.

It's made by GDI and it's not cheap....similar to the Smith #2006 and $375 US It looks like a really good set up, but I haven't fondled one yet.

For those looking for old style split (not two piece) arms #18's I grabeed these pics from Different's web site, I hope he doesn't mind.

I think he's referring ot the Command & Conquer franchaise

GDI are one of the two playable sides in the Command & Conquer setting (not the Red Alert or Generals spinoffs in the series) of real-time strategy games. NOD is the other playable side. The third game just launched recently.
