Has anyone had any luck finding a supplier in Canada for 6x48 and 8x40 scope base screws?? I am looking for the weaver style slotted oval head, but at this point, I would probably settle for any style that is 1/4" and 3/8" long.

The couple shops I frequent have bins of kibbles and bits.
Maybe try and find a shop that does smithing.
Might be a bin of awds $ sawds there?

Gunrunner100 - a PM sent to you. Thanks. Tried to buy a kit from Brownell's - turns out these screws are considered part of a firearm sighting system and can not be exported from the USA. Was hoping to find a commercial source in Canada.

That's odd. I just ordered and received a box of assorted gun smith screws from Brownell's. The size you're looking for was in this kit.

Hmm... Thanks for the update, mkrainc. I just went up to the Brownell's site, and you are indeed correct that the screws are no longer showing as "restricted". I stand corrected. Last time that I had actually tried to order these screws from them, and that could have been 5 to 8 years ago, they weren't exporting them, so I never went back to check. Seems consistent with general relaxation of the HomeLand Security rules, at least compared to how it was in immediate follow-up to 9/11.

I order mine from Brownells, everywhere I found any in Canada it was cheaper at Brownells, even with shipping.

Same with 6-48 and 8-40 taps.

Their website is shyte as far as a reference to what can be exported.

Phone them and ask.
