Scope Mount for a .303 enfield No.4 Mk 1 (1942)

What do you make of this guys, no disregard to the owner of course...

It resembles, but in a more rustic and artisanal style, the Cadtech. Is that garbage-day discarded bedrail or genuine Canajan Tire angle?

This is why I pay you guys the big bucks, it's the entertainment!:D

FWIW, I think it's a clever design, no drill and tap, and probably rock solid. But yeah, it does look like bedrail, doesn't it? :D

I think a CGN member was selling them wasn't he? - .303british.com shows how to make something like that but it's a drill & tap job.

I think its the same idea except this guy decided to use the mounting screws available instead of drilling and tapping, using the same method Parker Hale sights get installed. :)

The #20 requires drilling and tapping. The #21 replaces the rear sight. PH also made a drill and tap sidemount system. So does Williams.
I would not recommend drilling and tapping an unaltered service rifle.

Actually, that no drill and tap angle iron base has some merit. Likely works just fine, no alteration to the rifle. Could be trimmed down and lightened a bit.
Here is a thought - make a side mounting plate that attaches like the example shown. Then mount flats to the sideplate so that they are lower, in the area between the receiver ring and the charger bridge, and the charger bridge and the rear sight ears. Bases could be fitted to these flats. This would drop the mount a fair bit. High scope mounting is an issue with most Lee Enfield no drill no tap mount systems.
Or, stay with the angle iron, but cut away the top flat to clear the charger bridge and rear sight ear. Get it as low as possible.

The "Bedrail" design is CGN's Gairlochian's product. I have relayed one to an acquaintance of mine, I test-fitted it on one of my No4's and it was well made and seemed solid. Didn't put a scope on it though, didn't have the time to go to the range either.

With few tools, you can make your own scope mount from a piece of angle iron, in a manner as the # 4, B-Square has been made.

(I did not see that Airborne 69 already shown that one :)
