Scope mount for M305?

I believe most of them leave the rear sight intact but require the stripper clip guide to be removed. Can-am had the promag on sale, but hical also carries it. Brownells is out of the ARMS 18 mount which I think is the best, also check out the sadlak mounts at Treelinem14.com but they are more expensive.

There is also a 'sticky' in the Main Battle Rifles forum to browse through also on the topic.
You may have more luck in that forum as well.

which scope mount that doesn't require removal of rear sight and where to buy?

thank you.

If you wan't to keep the rear sight, the ARMS#18 mount (the Promag is a knock-off copy) is the way to go. I have no experience with the Sadlak, but they seem to make very good products.

Something to keep in mind with Norincos: their machining tolerances are not very good. There is a chance that the sight mount will not be properly aligned with the barrel when installed.

Promag make 2 different mounts for the M1A. One is a copy of the ARMS 18 which already has been talked about, the other is a copy of a Smith Enterprises 2006 model (my fav).

I would have to disagree. My experience has been the opposite. I've had problems with 3 of the 4 Smith Enterprises mounts (1-2024 model, 2-2006 models and now own a 2005) and all but the one had the same problem, the mount was too far away from the stripper clip. Hard to say that it's a Nork problem if the all had the same problem. It could be that they are made to differ from American M1A's but to say the machining is off, nope. I would say that there pretty good.

I've never had an arms 18 that would not mount properly on a norinco. Have had LOTS of guys bring me rifles that "they" couldn't get the mount straight on though.
Arms 18 is my go to scope mount.

Agreed! It's the only one I've got the confidence to show up at an ORA Sniper match with! Yup, even on a Norinco. Been there, done that! Surprised the poop out of people!

Cheers and keep helping them nooobies around here!

I really like the new Springfield M14 rifles, with the built in scout rail.

I've got one right now. The alignment wasn't bad on the first Norc I put it on (the one where just about everything was out of index, ironically), but I moved it over to a second Norc, and you can clearly see that the scope rail is not in line with the axis of the scope when viewed form the top and from behind.

I was under the impression that Norc's were built by chinese shop class teenagers and had generally poorly machined tolerances. :p
