Scope mount for Win model 70

Hey gang, I will be putting a Leupold VX 3HD 2.5-8x 36 on a extreme weather 7mm-08 and was figuring on the Talley lightweights or the Leupy backcountry and was wondering if I can get away with the low rings with this scope/ rifle combo. Will be an online order so I am hoping you folks can assist so I’m not returning product back and forth in order to get it right.

I just pulled a scope with a 40mm objective out of a set of Talley Lightweights on a Model 70, they are a low set. Works perfect, just swapping a new scope on when it arrives.

the bolt handle and the eye piece will be very close to each other with the extra low

Howdy Hunter, I have used lows and extra lows with Talley LW's and Warne split/fixed on various model 70's with the same scope. I personally like the lows with a cheek piece style stock (Safari) and extra lows with the non cheek piece stocks. Great classic combo you have there.

I’ve started to go to Leupold steel Weaver style PRW bases with either Leupold PRW rings or the Backcountry weaver style rings for those bases. The front base I modify to remove the extension slot. Lows will work with any scope up to 42mm at least.
