Scope mount problem...help!

Howdy,
I have mounted a bushnell elite 3200 5-15x40 ao with Leupold rings and bases on a Weatherby mk5 special varmint and have sighted it in, but have no more adjustment room on the scope and I am 4"high at 200 yards...she is cranked right down. What can I do? I don't really want my coyote rifle to be that high at 200 yards. Would different bases make a difference? Could I put a non-matching pair of rings on it (maybe one high and one xtra high) to compensate? Or should I just live with it...it is very accurate. Any comments would be appreciated.:confused:
 
You might have ssomeone knowledable check out the bases used. Weatherby has made some changes recently and some bases have to be ordered by the serial number of the rifle......

Other than that, the front base will need to be shimmed higher by at least 10 thou. Do not shim rings. Shim under the base.
 
Put a piece of .010" shim stock between the front base and the rifle. Then remount the scope. You may need to lap your rings a bit to prevent any damage to the scope tube. If you have a one-piece base, then it is the same procedure, but simpler, since it does not misalign the rings when you shim the front. Do NOT mismatch rings!! Regards, Eagleye.
 
Assuming that you have the right bases, you either have to shim the front base about 20 to 25 thousands and lap the rings to get rid of any potential bind, or just get a set of Burris insert rings with the offset inserts and fix it that way. Scopes work a lot etter when they are at least close to their center setting. This stuff happens all the time.

Either system will work, the 0.010 to0.015 shim under the front base, or the BURRIS SIGNATURE RINGS and a set of the offset ring inserts, the burris system is one of the best systems for aligning scopes and it protects your scope from any ring marks. Bill.
