Scope Mount Screws

Been a while since I mounted a scope. Are you guys still using a thread locker in the threads like Loctite 277 high strength red for exanple. If not let mem know please what to pick up. Thanks for the help.

I use the blue type which is removable with tools. On the base screws only.

I never use red on screws. I use the blue removable Loctite on the base screws and Leupold windage screws.

On rings screws I never use Loctite of any kind, just a lightly lubricated screw torqued to 15 inch pounds plus a little...

Perfect. Thanks guys I will pick up some blue. Just have the red in the tool box from working on the old cars.

I use purple loctite 222MS, it is meant for small fasteners up to a ¼”. It can be difficult to find though.
Blue loctite 242 is meant for ¼” to ¾” fasteners but works perfectly fine as guntech mentions.

Thanks Guys. You are right the 222ms I could not find today but will head to a loctite dealer tomorrow in the city to see what they have. The 242 is in stock at crapy tire just down the road if I cannot find the other.
