Scope mount that allows use of iron sight

The smith enterprise mount will work if you keep the objective size smaller than 45mm or you can use higher rings.

Is there a high quality scope mount that allows for the use of the iron sight on the M14?

I know marstar has one for $89.95, but the key word is in bold above.

"High Quality" means that you are looking at least $260.00 Cdn.

The ARMS #18, Smith Enterprise, and Enterprise arms mounts still allow you to use your iron sights depend on your scope objective lens size, and ring height.

The ARMS #18 go for around $260.00 Cdn, and the Smith Enterprise mounts are going for $350.00ish.

Both these mounts may be hard to find up here in Canada.

IMHO, the Smith mount is the best.

i love the marstar mount. who says that you have to spend $250+ on a mout mine holded zero and i mean ZERO for a very violent hunting trip and hundreads of rounds through it!!!!!!

I have the marstar mount. It came loose during a hunt last year. But after that, I gave it an extra half twist, tightened it right up and it's held dead zero for many shooting sessions and a few hunts later. I would say aprox. 300 rounds anyhow. I cannot justify spending that kind of money...on a "quality" mount. I mean hey, that's almost a tank of gas!!! Just my 2 cents.

I have used most of the mounts out there, and from my experience, pay the money and get a top notch mount.

It will save headaches down the road.

The top line mounts are all 3 point mounts, maening there are three points of contact on the reciever. You also want a steel mount. The aluminum ones are junk.Period.

As far as justifying the money for one of those high price mounts, what if the animal of a lifetime appears in front of you and your inexpensive/economy mount hasn't held zero or has failed?????/How much is that missed opportunity worth???

Mounts are the same as optics, you only get what you pay for.I have been down the cheap route once before and never again.

The ARMS #18 & Smith mount are both used by the military, and are being used over in the sanbox without any problems with them.

The cheap mounts are fine for the range, but I wouldn't trust them in any other situation.

Ok, I have an ARMS #18 and a Tasco Super Sniper 10x on the way. From the gathered experiance of you guys, which rings will allow me to still use the iron sights? I hear the ARMS#22 High rings is what I should be looking for, is this right and have I answered my own question :)?

so since nobody mentioned it is one to assume that the B-square mount is crap as well?

I understand that it will be less rigid that the 3pt mounts but is the quality any better than the Marstar one?

Thanks!

There is now a sticky on scope mounts at the top of the Main Battle Rifles forum posted by girlsgunsandfastbikes and Different. It mentions the B-square but quite honestly I havn't bothered reading it in too much detail since I have already gone with the ARMS #18.

I just don't want to order the wrong rings - basically.

I have used the B-Square mount. It was all right, but nowhere near the quality and sturdiness of the ARMS #18 or Smith mount.

Nope, no PM recieved.I double checked.

strange? anyway I have a USGI stock on the way so its not a big deal now but perhaps in the future we can do some business! (especially if the stock I ordered doesn't show up...).

I am one of the rare, I use a Springfeild 3rd Gen. I can easily use the open sights with it.

I used Loctite to secure it, and I have had it work perfectly for over 2 years. Tha includes range time and hunting. I got a good deal on it from a US citizen. For guys that can't afford the expensive mounts, I would consider the 3rd Gen.
