Scope mounting in the Williams Lake area

I bought my first hunting rifle, a .270 Win Tikka T3 Stainless Hunter package deal from wholesale sports a Burris Fullfield E1 3-9x40 scope. Now I just need to mount and boresight the thing. From what I have gathered, I probably should not attempt to mount the optic myself. I would need to buy a few tools that I don't have and it has the potential to cause headaches that I don't need with my first scoped rifle.

So my question is, who should I go to to mount the scope for me? From what I gather Williams Lake is a two-gun store town. We have Chilcotin Guns and Blue Mountain Gunsmithing. I haven't had dealings with either store before, so who is most likely to mount the scope correctly and what should I expect it to cost? I'm sure either store would do a fine job, but for those of you who have actually dealt with these gun stores, who do you prefer and why?
 
I suggest you first go to the Leopold or other scope/ring company's website and watch a few videos to see how it is done.
It is not very complicated.
You don't need a bunch of special tools.
You won't have a bore-sighter but you can do this on bolt action rifles without one.
Google is your assistant.
 
Buy a torque screwdriver, laser bore sighter (or just look through the bore) and a small level and it takes about 20 minutes to get it right. It's a good thing to learn.

I've known Al at Chilcotin Guns for about 15 years. He's a great guy. Take it in there and have him do it for you. Then consider buying your supplies locally to help support a small business. I lived in Williams Lake for 4 years and never dealt with Blue Mountain so I can't comment on them. But you can't go wrong with Al.
 
If you don't want to do it yourself, give Blue Mountain a try - it's worth it. I've always had good experiences there, very friendly staff always willing to chat. Ask if you can watch him mount the scope - you might pick up tips for when you decide to mount one yourself.

That's what I was hoping to do. If I can see someone do it correctly, I can probably do it myself at some point or decide it isn't worth the hassle. Either way I think it is worth paying to have the scope mounted on this rifle.

Yeah for sure, I considered that. I try to support local businesses when I can, but the price you pay for buying stuff here in Williams Lake is steep. If I had to buy a hunting rifle locally, with my money I wouldn't have been able to buy a Tikka at all, much less the wood-stock stainless model. My folks have bought rifles and guns there in the past though.
 
I hear you. But sometomes you find deals. There was a used Remington Ti in 270 that I should have bought. And a CZ550 that I put Demonical onto. He turned it from a 458 WM to Lott.
 
You're only an hour drive from Omer, sight sponsor Plainsight Solutions. He is in Quesnel and is an OPTICs guru. Chilcotin Guns is great they've been there ages, Al took over from his Dad. My brother in Law says Blue Mountain is also good, they're just new(after my time in town).
 
I went into Chilcotin guns and got the scope mounted and bought a case, they didn't charge me anything for the mounting. Seems good to me.
