My 'new to me' BLR in 7mm-08 has arrived and I have a Bushnell 6500 1.25x8x32 that I was thinking using, however it looks like even with the 6" of eye relief it is going to be difficult to use the 2 piece Leupold bases, and get the scope where I would like it. The tapped holes in the receiver are not in ideal locations.

I have a set of Leupold 30mm QR rings sitting around but they have the 'Weaver' style mounts...has anyone used a 'Piccany' base on the BLR? I could use the Leupold QR rings with that and I assume, more locating options for the scope...

I was also thinking of a 'holographic' type of sight...this gun is so light and easy to handle it seems a shame to mount a 15oz scope on it...any suggestions?

Mount the scope as low as you can, cheek weld will suffer if you don't. I used see through mounts and had to add to the stock because of it. Live and learn… Saw a nice vid from Australia where they used an Aimpoint, might even try that.

I ordered a picatinny rail from EGW for my .358 BLR. I'm going to look for Talley 1" QR rings to mount an old Weaver K1 scope. I'm need to determine the ring height first.

I've also toyed with the idea of mounting a Burris FastFire or a Bushnell TRS 25 on the picatinny rail. Where I hunt and how I hunt shots are close and quick.

OK, been looking at piccany rails, in particular the EGW offering...however it comes in 2 versions for the BLR, 0 MOA and 20 MOA...since this rifle will never be used for anything over 250yds, am I correct in assuming that the 0 MOA unit is the one I want?

I am a piccany rail purchasing 'newbie', haha.

Correct and it gives you more mounting options for distance and eye relief.
