Hello all, I have a KAC SR-25 I wanted to keep the flip up rear iron sight and mount a scope, anyone have an idea on what rings I should use?
I have a set of xrta high Weaver quad lock rings, not high enough lol, I'd love a set of 6 hole tactical rings but I can't afford more than 50 for them lol

So op says he cant afford more than 50 for his rings and then you offer up a 500.00 option...

OP what optic are you looking to mount?

True, but on such a high end rifle you cheap out at the rings? WHY?

Dont NC Star scopes come with there own rings nowadays? :p

If this wasn't CGN I would assume someone missplaced one more zero on the end of $50.

You dont need to get uber spendy on a Spuhr or Geissele mount, but get some quality rings or a quality mount at least. I would personally aim for an ADM QD Mount. Solid as all hell, and not going to break the bank in a devistating way.

Remember, buy once, cry once, and if you decide to change it up later, at least it has some resale value.

If you buy used, you wont even really loose on resale later on.

Yes this advice is 5x your budget (for new, about 4x for used), but its 10x better, and in the long run you will be happier with your overall set up sooner and spend less in the long run. (Cheap rings are not worth anything to resell)

I agree, I've been looking for a cheaper one piece if I can, found one and had to ask if it was Airsoft, the guy had it on his ar-10, but it was Airsoft I laughed.
If I had the cash I'd get the KAC 30 mm one piece mount

I ordered the aero ultralight 1pc mount from brownells. They are 82.00 us and about 140 up here though not qd. I wouldn't get hung up on that.

If weight isn't an issue the burris cantelever mount should clear your irons and they can be found for about 100 on the EE.

Just my humble suggestion :)

With that rifle I would save up for a QD ADM Recon Mount and a NF Scope.

Just my 2 cents .... cou:

Don't limit your options with only looking for a one piece mount. The main advantage of the one piece is the cantilever which is great for an AR15 but not needed on the longer AR10/AR308, unless you have a scope with ridiculous eye relief.

I would try and track down a set of TPS rings second hand. The height depends on the scope. A reasonable comfortable height should work with back up sight underneath. You get a high end ring at a good price but not quick release. You will need high to extra high rings if it's a version with the rail running along the receiver and continues on the handguard.

The cheapest quick release one piece that would work is the Burris PEPRE quick release. The ADM is nicer. But the Burris will work and is a lot cheaper.

But I think your best bet is a decent set of rings. If absolutely necessary for quick release then Warne/Zeiss rings or Leoplod PRW are other quality ring options that can be found second hand.

These are the most cost effective decent quality options. Even so the OP will need to double their budget.

Looking at the scope you are using, get the Burris quick release mount if you can't find a really good deal on quality rings. Still you will have to up the budget to $100 or so and that's buying second hand. I would then save for a better scope/rings or mount. Maybe consider selling the backup sights. Later get the KAC 45 degree backup sights. Something to think about. A lot depends on what is available second hand.
