I just inherited a well travelled Husquvarna Featherweight in 30.06 from my father-in-law who passed away. It has the 20 1/2 inch barrell and schnabel forend. I believe it is a 1970's vintage firearm. At present it has a weaver(?)tip-off mount where the ring are hinged to the bases....it does not look all that secure.

Any suggestions as to what/where I can look for new/better scope mounts/rings system.

thanks in advance

Your rifle is a #4000 or 4100, and uses #55 and #46 Weaver bases.

Now that I think of it, I might have a Leupold or Redfield one piece base for it somewhere in my stuff. :runaway:

IF it is the vintage you think it is (they stopped making rifles in the mid 70s), your info is correct.

Do you have some photos you can post? #55 and #46 Weaver bases fit the small ring Mauser actions including the 1640 action, which is a small ring with a 98 bolt with 3rd locking lug.

If its an old FN 98 action, then one of these isn't going to fit.

Leupold 1-piece mount #49989 should work fine. It fits mine, I got it at Wholesale Sports. They list it as being for a Crown Grade Husky, but it seems to fit the Lightweights too.

I have the same rifle and tried a set of two piece Leupold STD bases for the small ring Mauser on it.( I maybe wrong, but I don't think Leupold makes a two piece specifically for the Husky small ring). The height was right but screw hole spacing didn't match the holes in the receiver which I assume are factory drilled. Thinking about a set of Conetrol's now.
