Scope mounts on a Yugo SKS (Whats the best??)

000_0561.jpg

Just got one of the russian holo sight scopes and mounted it on an SKS with dragunov stock and scout mount. The scout mount seems pretty solid but I wish it was made out of steel instead of aluminum.
I've had a chance to try out a bushnell holo sight and the Kobra kicks it's ass as far as I'm concerned. The windage and elevation letters are in russian so leaving the manual in the house costed a few extra rounds down range. This sight has 4 different reticle settings which can be changed with the push of a button.....very cool. And it's built like a Russian tank, very solid. For 200.00 bucks I'm so far convinced it's worth every penny. I got it more or less zeroed and took 3 carefully aimed shot at a piece of paper from an old box of ammo. When I walked 100 yards downrange to have a look I was VERY impressed with the group shown in the picture. This is a quality peice of gear for a very reasonable price and I can't say enough about it!

Might have to look at getting a kobra for my ar-15(comming hopefully soon) What model is that one lamar I did do up a yugo sks with a choate dragonov(sp) stock and kilanka scope/mount. I soon relized that I liked the oringal version better, and sold it at a loss. So I would say don't bother, or if you do the scout type would be my next pick if I were to fool with it again.

Do NOT buy any receiver cover mount SKS scope mount. The recoil will blow your zero in about 3 rounds. Your best bet is drill and tapped on the reciever, or no scope at all, its accurate enough with its iron sites out to 100, and any longer out its a crap shoot.

This is prob in the wrong forum but......
Well I can't say what type of junk you tried, but my cover mount works great. All you have to do is fit it right and it will work. My scoped sks will hit the two hundred gong continuously. After cleaning and break down, it wil still shoot to point of aim.PS I've got a tap&drill set up too

Why scope an SKS? It was never intended to be used with a scope.

Not exactly true.

The AK, and the Mosin where built with just Iron sights, and the Russians did a fantastic job of Scoping them...esp' the scoped Mosins at Stalingrad in the hands of the Russian Snipers.

Dingus If your worried about resale value I would go the Kalinka optics route...The Yugos would have had access to these scopes, and they are meant for all com-block rifles.
