Hello all. Did anybody ever make a decent scope mount for the inch fal's. All I've ever heard is stories on how flimsy they were?

I've got the TAPCO one on my Ishapore Franken-FAL and it holds solid enough for my Aimpoint.
Dig around the FAL Files for a bit, there is a wealth of knowledge over there on that rifle and everything to do with it.

I bought it about 10years ago, you would have to check with them in regards to the possible need for an export permit

DSA won't deal with Canadians direct, much the same way TAPCO won't either. However, there are US businesses that carry their products, or will be willing to order them for you. Gunthings.com did that for me, but unfortunately they have since switched to a policy of only dealing with the 50 US states. Dig around on the net, or check the FAL Files for sale postings.

Ditto the comment for the A.R.M.S. mount for the FAL/L1A1/C1A1. The standard FAL/L1A1/C1A1 mount is the No. 3 and runs about US$135. The Para FAL mount is the No. 4 and is slightly higher. Both mounts replace the stamped steel dust covers on all these rifles.

These mounts should be topped by tactical rings for best results. I use the A.R.M.S. No. 22 30mm throw lever rings. The throw lever rings allow for removal and replacement of the scope without loss of zero. These rings come in three different heights -- short, medium, and high -- to allow the use of large objective optical sights or to clear the rear sight by the ocular end of the scope.

The other mount that is equivalent to the A.R.M.S. is the one made for DS Arms' STG58-type rifles. It is a good, solid tactical mount that replaces the stamped dust cover.

The DSA mounts have had good reviews on FALFiles.
The long awaited Grenadier Precision scover is apparently now shipping. The owner of Grenadier is a Canuck ex-pat and will probably be willing to ship to Canada. I haven't read any reviews of his mount yet, but it is convertible between standard and Para FAL's.

B Square makes a heavy top cover/scope mount for the FN series of rifles. It is very similiar to the DSA version except much cheaper. It has the cross slots on top and has a series of screws on each side to tighten the upper to the lower. Any Weaver type scope rings will fit this cover. A friend of mine have one on his L1A1 and it was good enough to compete at 500m.

Mounts For FN FAL's

Gentlemen
I have a complete top cover for an FN made out of heavy stamped steel. There is a solid bar of steel with grooves attached to the top of the cover. The base on the top is 5 1/8" long and 1/2" wide. The top is marked with the letters A R B G. Can any of you tell me anything about it???

I have one here that was machined out of a solid block of steel. It is designed to soft solder onto the upper receiver. It stiffens the whole upper assembly and makes the rifle shoot with a scope like you would like it to . It was originally mounted on an Australian L1A1.--$100.00
