For you $2K budget I would go with NightForce.................if you want to buck up another $1.5K, I would go with a Schmidt & Bender 5 -25 X 56 PM-II.........

what about the bushnell elite 6500 4.5-30x50 tactical for 900$ ? Almost half the price of the NF.
Opinions ?

Not enough elevation for me. I went with a Leupold mark 4 8.5-25x40mm. I like the scope. The glass is clear, the turrets track well. I wish it had a more solid "click" when adjusting the turrets though.

Definitely Nightforce!! The 5.5-22x50 or 56mm NPR-1 non first focal plain, non zero stop is the way I went and I still don't regret it.

You may want to glance at a review a wrote a few weeks ago. S+B is the best but it is outside your budget. NF is at the budget and is excellent and Sightron is arguably as good but less money.
