I've had a Cooey 82 in the collection for a year, and love the gun and its simplicity and accuracy. But I've always hated the iron sights, since my vision won't get me seeing out to the 50 yrd line.

I'm just wondering if anyone has scoped an 82, and if it will require drilling into the receiver. I don't want to bubba the one I have now since it's in mint condition, but I saw one one the EE today that I might try to scope.

Any opinions? Or gunsmiths willing to give it a try?

The scoping is easy, but yes, you would be bubbaing a piece of Canadian milsurp.
There have been one or two on the EE that were already drilled and tapped of the last couple of years as I recall.

Unless the Model 82 is non-military ( not broad arrow marked) then I would not alter ( drilled and tapped for scope mounts). It would look much like my Mossberg model 151s. They look awesome with the full woods and scope. Much like a sniper rifle of the military. Some Mossberg 151s were used for military training also but i have not seen any personally. It would be a treat to have one.

Mine was never issued. It doesn't have the arrow markings, just the Cooey serial number. But still, too nice a gun to drill and tap.
I guess I'll put out a WTB on the EE.
