Has anyone else have experience with non-destructive, non-original sighting modifications for these rifles?

With my eyes no longer able to effective use open sights, I'm toying with the idea of a long eye relief (LER) scope for my Swede mausers. They are in original unaltered configuration. I don't want to drill any holes.

Accumounts.com has a "no gunsmith scout mount" that is supposed to enable a LER or pistol scope, without altering the gun. $75 plus shipping from U.S.

Williams aperture sight would be a less expensive experiment. $26 from Brownells. Are they any good?

I hear ya, Metman. I can't see open sights any more either and was thinking about the accumount also for my m/96, but I'm not sure they will sell to us, seeing as we're regarded as terrorist sympathizers. Give 'em a shout and see what procures. Maybe there is a Canadian dealer.

Accumounts seem to have an ebay store that ships to Canada $91 total with USPS shipping. (Aside: Most U.S. companies will sell as long as it's less than $100 - the more cautious ones - e.g. Brownells - will only export products of manufacturers registered with their department of state, regardless of price. I don't see Accumounts on that list, but Williams Gun Sight Co. is.)

(Ironically, the brass stock-disks get blocked by ebay !)

Add the cost of the scope (e.g. Marstar's NcStar for $80-90 total)... it's not a huge investment.
