I haven't looked through the VX6 either, but the predecessor VX7 had changing eye relief and the worst case of tunnel vision I've seen, there was a huge black ring in the peripheral vision. Actually quite pathetic for a $1500+ scope.
 
Bang for your buck: Bushnell Elite, Redfield and Weaver scopes. Many of these are $200-$300 and will be both rugged and reliable.

Spending a bit more, you can get Zeiss or Sightron, which are both more expensive and IMO have better glass than the other ones, but are still a good value in the $450-$700 range.

Above that, if you're spending $1000+ on a hunting scope, I wouldn't even bother with Leupolds, I'd go straight for an entry level Swarovski or Kahles scope.

So you had one Elite that held together. And 2 Leupolds that **** on you. And thats what you've based your brand preference on? How many Leupolds have you owned besides the 2 that "went south"? How many other Elites have you owned?

I consider anything more than 1/4" or so unacceptable.

Well, it probably doesn't effect me to a noticeable amount. Say for example, if it's a 3x9, I site in at 6 power and usually leaving there for the most part, except during the early morning time and after sun set time, I turn it down to 3. Rarely do I turn it to 9, only if I need to see a bullet hole or something like that! I am guilty of going with beauty for priority on this, too! I just love the looks of most Leupy's. The eye pc is the winner in the looks dept in my eye's. Nothing is more sleek and purdy that the Leupy! The lifetime warranty is also a bonas! So, hang me high if you want! I'm a Leupy man and that's just the way it is. :D

Choose your scopes to look at if you wish, but I choose them for what they are intended, which is to look through. I feel the same way about guns. Some people own pretty guns to polish and admire, I won't own a gun unless I intend to shoot it. I will choose a basic, accurate, reliable gun every time over a fancy one that doesn't function as well.
