Looking to retop my Browning A-Bolt in .280. The current scope (a Redfield 3-9) has taken a few knocks over the years and I've basically realized I just don't trust it anymore to be on target from hunt to hunt and am passing up longer shots that I wouldn't have when I first got the rifle and scope.
So what are the opinions out there on a good variable power scope for under $400.00. Not looking for fancy doodads and attachments but a solid and user friendly piece of equipment with good optics. My average shot is just over 100 yards but I have shot moose and deer out to 400 yards often enough to make it a regular occurence.
