HI
I bought a remington 700 sps 26" , never own a rifle before in my life.
I need a scope and mount it on the rifle.

Anyone can recommand me what brand and model i should get ? I dont want to spend too much on it tho. i guess i will mostly use it at the indoor range or perhaps sometime outdoor.
after i did some research. I think i need these things

scope
rack
ring
bipod
anything else ? it didnt come with any magazine . am I need one ?

thanks

Lots to a scope. Need to know your budget and intended use before anyone here can recommend a scope.

Bipod and rings are easy. American Rifle Company M10 scope rings are IMO the best design out there. After trying many, I use nothing but M10's now. Some clever engineering that makes scope mounting a breeze.

For bipod, get a Harris or Atlas. Harris works well, and they are not too expensive. The new Magpul bipod looks like a lot of value for a great product, but I have no personal experience with them. DO NOT get a knock-off bipod.

If budget is tight .... check out some Weaver Brand rings and rails for R700.

As for scope .... Bushnell or Vortex.

Bipod .... Champion or Caldwell

Pop by your local Bass Pro, Cabelas or some Can Tire or Wal-Mart

May I suggest to you to spend some time reading some of the various informational sticky posts available throughout here? Some will cover your questions. Since you've invested your hard earned money on a rifle, I would suggest you invest time before you spend more.

You're likely to get brand loyalty when you ask questions like these.

For example, when you look into scopes you will discover MOA and Milradian scope systems. You'll have to figure out that for yourself. Front focal, second focal planes. Magnification powers. Reticle choices... so on and so on.

"Rack" I assume is the scope base. You'll need to decide on 0 MOA, 10, 20 or maybe 30 MOA. Steel or Aluminum. And if you choose Rings such as the "Optic-loc" (yeck) you won't even need a base.

Rings choice is made after you determine scope. Scopes have 1", 30mm, 34mm...etc tube sizes. Once you find the correct Ring size, you will need to determine you Scope bell clearance for your base to find the correct ring height. 1.5" is usually a good choice, but being lower has advantages. Steel or Aluminum.

Bipod is dependent on your mount options. Yours is likely a sling stud option. Harris and caldwell off reasonable choices. I'd avoid non-notched legs. Tension legs often suck hard.

Magazines are not necessary with the SPS. It had an internal box magazine which you cannot replace easily.

thanks a lot for your info. I will look into those factors your mention. want to come here before heading to a store. because when a bad or greedy salesman know you know nothing . it wont be too good..

thanks . I am planning to get the
Nikon Buckmaster II 3-9x40mm #139.99 at cablas
or
Vortex® Crossfire II 3-9x50mm at 199.99.
or
vortex crossfire II 3-9x50 -v-plex % 199.77$

for the rail. I am going with the weaver you mention. dont know what expensive will do better since it is just a piece of metal. i guess there are different but for my budget. i dont have much choice.

thanks again
