Hi, I was hoping to get some guidance or reccomendations for a scope. I just purchased a Tika T3 lite stainless 30-06. I am looking to spend between $500-700 on a scope. I will primarly use this gun for deer, moose, elk so I was thinking that a 3X(9-10) would be a good choice and as far as the objective lens goes I was thinking 40mm would be a good choice since I plan to do a fair bit of hiking but I am wondering if going to a 50mm will make a large difference in low light conditions? As far as tube size from my limited knowledge I think that I would prefer 1" but I am open to suggestions and reccomendations. Any insight in this topic would be greatly appreciated.

The best Bang for buck and very popular is the Zeiss Conquest in 3-9 x 40mm or 50mm.
The quality of glass in the 40mm will seem like it is as clear as other 50's.Go with the 50 and you will have amazing light gathering and clarity for twilight conditions.Right in your price range also.
Tube diameter gives more adjustment , a 30mm won't gain you very much for a hunting rig, 1" will be perfect.

If you are hunting in close quarters or in bush, then you should consider magnification at the low end of 1.5x or 2x. For hunting, 6x is plenty to go to 300m.
The Zeiss glass is very nice, but there are others too, such as Vortex, and Sightron.

I would go with a Sightron II Big Sky, 3-9x42 ST IIB. They should be around $400 at Hirsch Precision and until March 31 I believe have a $75 rebate. It is a very good quality scope made in Japan. I assume you want a silver finish if your gun is stainless. They have black as well of course.

I like my VX-3 in 1.75-6x32. It's compact, light, bright, clear and eminently shootable out past 300 yards. Also works great with low rings, which helps the cheek weld. There might be better "deals" out there, but it's hard to go wrong with quality glass and a good warranty. You can get the VX-3 in 2-8 as well, if you want to shoot a little farther.
