Well, last time I came for a recomendation on an optic I got an aimpoint micro and it is awesome, so please help me again CGN :)

I am looking for a scope, preferably that has:

a magnification of 3-9 or greater
could be illuminated but does not need to be
Adjustable for distances from 25 yards to infinity as shooting will be done between 25 yards and 200 yards
I would like a fine reticle, maybe mildot, but nothing big and chunky. I bought a bushnell that looked cool but the stupid reticle blocked the whole target.
Good eye relief (this is important)
Preferably something light and not too bulky

budget is 0-400.00

It is going on a .22 but I would like to buy something strong enough for at least a .223.

I am still learning, so if there are other things I should consider please feel free to let me know, or if any of my requirements are at odds with each other. Thanks for your help! I really appreciate this community and its knowledge sharing.

Leupold

I have used the Leupold VX-III line in 4-12x40AO with the standard duplex (can be had with the fine duplex as well), it can be used from 25 yards to infinity. They are light for their size. As for the price point if you can find one of the Vari-X III models you should be able to pick it up for $400. You can use the scope on any other type of gun/caliber combination. If that doesn't work I would suggest a Bushnell 3200 or Trophy series for your price point.

The Leupold VX 11, 3-9x 33 AO is just about tailor made for your want list. It will also take a pretty good stab at most any big-game duty with any centerfire you care to throw at it. You will have to shop agressively to get it fot $400, but it can be done.
Every last scope Leupold makes is rated for air rifles and centerfires. Sometimes the only real difference on an rimfire scope is the distance the parallax is set at. Korth can change that for about 15 bucks.

I would suggest looking at the vortex line of scopes. They fall within your price range and have excellent warranty and features for the price. Best of luck.

I thought the 100 yard parallax would not suit my needs. Although I don't yet fully understand parallax I have to admit!

pssst!...I don't understand parallax either!

Anyway, I have purchased two scopes for rimfires within the last two years and have done my research. Mueller APV,s name kept coming up in rimfire message boards. Goggle it for yourself. I ended up getting Bushnells in both cases but I should have given APV a try.

I picked up a Bushnell Trophy at Gagnon's (was cheap) for now, and I am going to keep my eyes out for a good deal on the Leupold. Thanks so much for all the feedback!
