hi there im new to all this and i was wondering if you guys could recommend a good red dot scope for a kel-tec rfb. i would also like some magnification (im thinking 4x or 6x) so that i could use it for hunting deer and other game.

i guess something from Elcan (spectredr), Aimpoint or Eotech would be ideal but im not sure which particular models from the latter two. ive seen many pics of these on the RFB and they sure look nice!

anyways im looking forward to your suggestions and i hope i can make a purchase soon.

cheers!

There is only 2 that I would think that you probaly would like;
Burris XTR 1.5-6x40 Tactical Scope w/7.62 reticle

BU201909-3.jpg

And of course the Elcan.
Although you could always get the 5x magnifer with the EoTech or an Acog with a piggy back red dot.

my choice would be the Elcan Spectre DR I have had both the 1-4X and 1.5-6X on the RFB's, my preference for deer hunting is the 1.5-6X. they are expensive and heavy as hell.

thanks for the input. i guess ill have to do some more reading on these other scopes you guys mentioned.

i was leaning towards the elcan but it is a bit pricey.
now, if i go the eotech route, what model is recommended and which magnifier?

@pbr streetgang: nice pic of your toys! ive also read many reviews saying that the elcan is heavy as well, is it that heavy that it would make it a burden when hunting with the rfb? i see that the weight is 1.5lbs so it doesnt seem like it would be too bad, but then again i have no hands on experience with this.
BTW what are those things on the ends of your barrels?

IMHO they are a bit too heavy for hunting, it sucks packing your 12lb rifle whilst dragging your deer 300 meters out of the bushes. they things on the end of the barrels are XB2 muzzle brakes, it helps keeps the flash and sound down range and away from your ears.

i was thinking thats what they were but i didnt see any holes so it made it look like a suppressor. who is the manufacturer?

I have sold a number of Specter DR 1-4x and 1.5-6x to RFB owners.

I have a 1-4x 7.62 display unit available for $1,898 (taxes included, +shipping) which offers considerable savings.

I have a Burris PEPR mount. $100.

Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40 with Ballistic Plex reticle. $225

Burris Fastfire II piggybacked on top for fast shots in close range. $225

This will be my bush rifle for Elk,Deer, and Moose.

The Fullfield would be good out to 500 yards...but longest shot I would probably attempt is 275-300 yards.

Impressed with the set-up so far....

A magnifier with a reddot will be almost as heavy as a Specter DR and will be more bulky. The specter is a worth his price if it fits your needs.
