Hey all I have a Remmy 700 LTR with 20" barrel on the way and I'll be looking for a scope. The rifle will be used primary for target shooting. I'm looking for something relatively lightweight and willing to spend about $500. Please post your recommendations. Thanks!

A bushnell 4200 6x24x40 falls right into that price range. Mine has worked very well for me and I highly recommend it for the price. That being said, your going to get some better answers if you provide some more info. Do you have a specific power range in mind? Anything you consider essential like a side parallax?

Older Bausch and Lomb Elite 4000 and 4200's. If it has bausch and Lomb on the bell, its a gem. The newer bushnell versions can be very good too. but when they separated with only Bushnell - not so good.

Older Weavers are great value too but their knobs can be silly for LR shooting. their primary market was SR BR

If you want a modern scope, Sightron SII will fit in the price range. Better the SII Big Sky for a little more money.

For a little more than $500 you can get a Vortex Viper 6.5x20x50 new, ever cheaper used on the EE. They are a great scope for the cash and come with a kick a$$ warranty.

I can't speak about the Sightron's but I hear there also a great tube to mount on your 700. See Jerry at Mystic for that.
