Scope$$$ Rifle$$$ Brand names and Quality

I don't think anyone looks through any scope. Aren't we looking at an image plane inside the scope, with hopefully a cross-hair on the same plane?

That is like saying that you don't look through a window, rather you look at an image transmitted through the glass.:D

Not the same at all, as evidenced by being able to put the crosshairs on the same focal plane as the image. You can't do that with a window unless you both paint an X on one side and press the target to the other side. By your reasoning a piece of pipe with a wire cross-hair and 2 pieces of window glass would be a functional 1X scope.

I prefer the old Redfields and Burris (prior to the Fullfield II). I pick them up all the time on the EE. Real Gems IMHO.

Over the years, I've owned Unertl, Lyman, Weaver, Redfield, Baush & Lomb, Zeiss, Kahles
and an older German or Austrian scope which, IIRC was called a Hensholdt (sp). Over the past few years, I've converted entirely to Leupold VX-II's .... they match my needs, abilities and expectations of quality, and if ever needed, their reputation for very good customer service & repair. No fuss, no muss, good quality equipment at a reasonable price.
