Scope ring height M96 Swed - safety issue

if the bolt handle isnt bent you will need rings that are as high as you can get them. it isnt the best idea to try and put a scope on a mauser without a bent bolt handle. if it has been sporterized, go the whole way and have the bolt bent. if it is still intact. find something else to put a scope on...

You could also buy a "low swing" aftermarket safety for the m/96 Swedish Mauser. A 98 Mauser low swing safety will not fit the 96.

Some of the Sponsoring Dealers on this Forum offer Hunting and Sporting rifles made using Military actions. Your problem is exactly why, when someone asks me of what to look for in a Surplus hunting rifle, i always tell them to look for a bent bolt handle, drilled and tapped for a scope base, and a side safety. These three features not only allow more convenient handling, but will save about $150-$200 if they had to be done by a Gunsmith.
