Hey all. I think ive done my calculations right but its been a long day. Was hoping someone could second my thoughts on 1" high rings.
Gun is a stock rem 783 heavy barrel 16.5" 223 with factory rail and big bolt knob
Scope is nightforce shv 4-14×56 30mm tube
My thinking is 1" ring height should give me enough clearance?

Gun and scope in hand? Find a combination of nickels dimes and pennies that add up to .409" thickness. Tape 2 stacks over the rail and set the scope ontop. couple strips of electrical tape once you find your eye relief. Anything with a flat rail is easy to mock up. It's the Remington action with round/curved with Talley lightweights that I struggle with.

Nice rig, but isn't that lipstick on a pig?

The plan was to rebarrel to a 20 tac but the first 3 shots from the factory barrel cloverleafed at 100meters. So i figured id keep the 223 barrel till i wear it out. I have the scope and the rifle. The rifle currently has a 50mm bushnell legend ultra hd in mid rings and its low enough i cant use scope covers.
Ill try the coin trick
