Hey folks,

I just got a Sightron SIII 8-32x56 and I am eager to install and level it onto my rifle, however I seem to be having trouble deciding on rings. What are folks using for their 56mm objectives on a full length rail these days? I am currently leaning towards the Burris XTR Tactical rings due to affordability and availability. Let me know the model and size of what you are currently using! (Pics are always a bonus :p )

I have 1.5 ATRS rings on my Cadex. According to ATRS 1.375 will work but scope covers won't fit

Depending on if you running flip up caps or not, your scope is ~65mm OD at objective. you need rings at least 33mm tall. The 1.375 will work without any caps. 1.5" will work with tons of space.

I was able to run 1.375" rings on my IUR with a TT525P with tenebraex covers. there was about 1mm of space between caps and rail.

Yep 1.375" are what work for me
Same scope as you mentioned on a tac21 chassis
Nice and low and yep covers won't fit... I'm sure you might be able to trim them to fit but then will have to make sure they don't fall off

34mm Cadex 1.5" unitized rings. That leaves me with 0.203" between the rail and a 56mm Objective. I'm not sure how the clearance would differ on a 30mm scope but with a 34mm @ 1.5" I do have room for flip covers.

Call Richard Near at Near MFG at 780.678.6464 ....his products are world-class.
Tell him what you need and he will send you either a pair of rings or an Alpha Mount that will fit perfectly. His mounts are flawless. Yes they are not cheap but with the rising US dollar the margin is closing. He is Canadian...actually in Camrose Alberta

There are only 2 types of rings I will ever buy. One is the Alphamount and the other is a Spuhr. As mentioned the Alphamount is made in Alberta which is great. The Spuhr does include a bubble mount and a fool proof scope leveling tool. I may eventually replace my Near mount with another Spuhr but there is no rush.

If you don't want to spend the money on one of those just get some TPS rings. High quality and a decent price. They come in aluminum or steel.

Thanks for all of the informative responses, I will be reviewing this thread again some time in the future if and when I get a long action caliber for extreme LR. I decided to go with my 50mm scope as I already have rings for it, and it is a bit lighter. Just mounted it this afternoon:
