Scope rings for a Remington Nylon 66?

Ooo mine is an early one! nov 1966 #19XX. She's pretty minty as well...my great uncle gave it to me when he died.

Have you guys with these nylons scoped ever try to shoot groups with them?I'd be amazed if you could shoot 1" at 50 yrds. Like I said, mine was all over the place, probably 2 or 3 that would be fairly tight and the next 2 would be all over the paper. If I tried to tighten down the screws on the receiver cover, it would put too much pressure on the receiver and the bolt wouldn't cycle properly. If you don't have this problem then you are lucky. This is a common problem with these, do a search on rimfirecentral.
not to be insulting, but is your screw at the back of the barrel tight?- the one that holds the barrel clamp to the stock?- mine's NEVER been off- maybe that's the key

Yes it was tight, I don't have that particular gun anymore. I still have a nylon but have never tried a scope on it because of the issues I had with the previous one. I think if you are able to tighten down those receiver screws fairly tight then it would be less of a problem. Like I said, when I tried to tighten them down enough so that the reciever cover was absolutely snug (so that I couldn't pull on the scope and move it), the bolt wouldn't cycle properly.
Perhaps I'll try a scope on the one I have now for curiosity sake. If I do, I'll post some pics. But....as I said, search rimfirecentral for similar tales of problems scoping a 66. Its a common problem. You guys must all be very lucky :p
