Scope rings not true

+1 for the Burris Signature nylon bushing rings. As a bonus, you can get offset insert kits to give you about 30moa elevation (memory serving... it's been years) They are very good rings, hold well and do not scratch the scope tube.

If your bases are out that much, there is something wrong. Shim if you like, I'd toss them. As to that scope: I tried sighting a rifle for someone, and bought a rifle years ago and both had Tasco scopes... Both times I was chasing zeros... garbage. Take it apart and use the lenses as magnifying glasses... scrap metal bin for the rest.

Tanross Supply Company from Florida, USA never made anything - most everything they sold was made by jobbers somewherei and probably sold in North America. They were the entity that created the "Tasco" name for some scopes that they sold - and some lines of Tasco scopes were true crap - $19.99 3-9x40 in plastic bubble at Walmart - some lines were probably the best in the world at that time - ask US Navy which they chose for their "shooters" - likely depended what price point the Wholesale Buyer wanted - cheapest or best? It is good to read that Tasco scopes are "garbage" - that leaves the World Class and Titans and now SWFA for the rest of us. The current Tasco brand is now owned by the same corporation that owns other scope brands - it is NOT the same company or product after messing with that US Navy contract - it turns out besides world class shooters, the US Navy also had world class lawyers - they sued Tanross into non-existence.

Just called bubba, the subject matter expert. He said that if you want to do it the bubba-way, cut a strip of metal out of a soda can and fill the gap between ring and scope tube with it.

Stupid bubba... a 1 inch scope tube fits in a 1 inch ring... place a shim in the ring and the 1 inch scope no longer fits... the shim compresses into the scope tube.

So glad someone freshened this up I totally forgot to reply with my findings.

Talked to a friend and he found a set of Warne bases for a Rem 700. I guess the front bases are the same on the savage 110 and the remmy 700. I put this base on then the rings and just snugged it down. Laid the scope in there and it lays right in the bottom of the rings with no effort. The M902 Warne base has another slot rearward which allows me to move the scope rearward to achieve the correct eye relief.

My conclusion is that the front bases must have had the holes drilled slightly off center and caused that slight alignment issue.
