Scope Rings - What to Choose?

If your that unqualified then you should be visiting a gun smith. Hence why I quoted " Over tightening and cheap Chinese junk." Even tightened evenly theyll mark your tube. Quality rings are machined in pairs on multi axis high end lathes and mills. Like life, you get what you pay for. Buy once and cry once. Ive had tubes scratched just from putting the top ring cap on.

Not all gunsmiths are created equal. There are some that are no more qualified than someone that watches YouTube.

Even quality can mess up, rings can be in spec, the tube may not. Or have a tough thick coating.

When we write the word gunsmith, we probably should be using some punctuation marks around it. It's a simple word in a very specialized field, but not every 'gunsmith' is a gunsmith, and not every gunsmith can be recommended for every gunsmithing job.

So true - I don't think there's a red seal for gunsmithing is there?

Even so, in any shop, small jobs can be expected to get passed along to less qualified staff - Which is fine, if they are supervised appropriately.

Gunsmithing should be an advance machining course. My father got a gunsmithing certificate, they're not hard to get.

I don't think you are aware of modern machining technology. Even the cheap scope rings Bushnell provides with their Banner 2 scopes will not scratch the tubes - but I prefer the rings with the pairs of top bolts. The $100 Vortex rings are good. I have only seen marks on super cheap Chinese stuff and when improperly installed. I don't know your mechanical skills but I doubt they are very high. Cheers.

But go ahead and spend $500 on rings. Be my guest.
