SCOPE RINGS - Which do you think are the best?

The NEAR Rings and Bases are awesome...

Badger's big rings are overbuilt with no real gains IMHO.

Overbuilt? I guess thats a relative term What are you using rifle for, paper, hunting or for the real thing. Overbuilt, well some guys who actually depend on their rifle for their lives would beg to differ. There is no such thing as overbuilt or over engineered as someone said earlier.

My vote is for the TPS rings and bases. Can't beat the performance you get at that price! Near and Farrell are equally good, but a little overpriced.

I thought I would jump in here instead of starting another thread on the same topic, I think it plays right in here and not a thread hijack.

I have a medium distance (500 yards max for now) tactical style Rem 700 that is custom built by me, there is allot left to do but I do need some advice on were to go with rings and a base right now. It now has Leupold two piece steel bases and Burris Sig Z steel rings with a Falcon Menace scope, I am at this time very happy with the weight and function of this setup. But with that said I am not opposed at all to adding to the tactical look of the rifle, I also have Burris Extreme Tac rings but they are way to big and heavy for my setup and look.

As I am shooting 500 yards or less I figure I am ok without a 20 MOA rail, so how exactly will a on piece rail improve my setup overall and do I need one?

As for ring upgrades I am looking into the TPS ones from Fabsports as they are well prices and spoken highly of here, again will they improve my rifle over the steel Burris Sig Zee's or is it just more money for cooler looks?

I would like to buy Near a Canadian company but they are kinda pricey for right now.

Cheers,
Evan
