Scope set up for a Ruger #1??

Ted,

I never said said anything about shooting long range with my 458 Lott and a red dot. But If I wanted to shoot long range with my Lott and pulled off the red dot off and mounted a capable scope wouldn't you agree that the 20MOA base would help. Again just saying... No one said I needed 20MOA on a red dot, the base came like that, I'm sure if you know anything about rifle setups that a 20MOA will never hurt anything, would it really matter at the end of a regular hunting day? Your rifle will still zero at 100 yards.

I posted here because the OP wanted ideas. So I showed what I like and have. This setup works for me and would be versatile if I ever changed optics that's all man. Take a deep breath and don't be all butt hurt... I'm not

I'm not Ted.

I understand what you're saying now. Though you might consider breaking your thoughts up a little for clarity.

It will not likely zero at 100, and I am curious if you have actually tried to do so. A 20 MOA base yields a bit more than 20 inches of elevation at 100 yd. There are no small numbers of hunting scopes that will not be able to correct for that much.

When using canted bases for long range shooting the rifle is never zeroed even close to center at 100. They are always many inches high at that distance.
