Scope suggestion

conflicting advise? sort out what your needs and wants are, details matter
200-300 yds on paper? can be done without hash marks or turrets with a fixed 4x or hundreds of others
It went off topic for a bit, but yes , a fixed 4x will work, but most guys like shooting a bit more power for targets .
Myscope on my main hunting rifle is 1.5-4x and I have killed animals cleanly past 300 yards, but the OP is asking about a scope explicitly for targets I think.
In his case, the one he has picked will be fine .

I would suggest the Athlon Helos BTR Gen2 family. This was the most recent updated FFP in the Athlon lineup and it shows. Good news, the prices haven't adjusted and it is the best value in the HD options right now.

If you ok with a SFP scope, then the HERAS is worth a look too. Need super high mag, the 15-60X56 is a smoking target scope.

I think you will get way more scope and spend alot less money. I now run 5 helos btr g2's on my personal rifles.

I second the Athlon line. I bought a Midas TAC Gen 2 5-25x56 FFP MIL to try out on my 6.5 Creed.....2 weeks later 3 new Athlon's showed up at my door....and 3 PST Gen 2's left, never to be seen again. I whole heartedly believe the "mid grade" Athlons are way higher quality than the "high" end Vipers.

Not my experience at all.
I have a 5-25 Midas Tac and a 5-25 gen 2 PST and the PST has noticeably better glass. The Athlon has more CA/blue fringing than my hated DBT, and the PST is sharper edge to edge at all magnifications. The difference is especially noticeable over 12x.
I picked up a Delta Javelin from Peter this spring, wish I had paid attention to them earlier. Significantly better glass quality than both the 5-25 Midas Tac and gen 2 PST, and its only $1325+taxes etc.

I have an Athlon Aeres G2 5-27x.... the glass is fuzzy all around the edges, reticle MOA numbers are blurred on the outskirts - its very noticeable - fixable with changing focus as you zoom; its a different setting at low power vs high power.
I sent it back, and got a different scope with exact same issues. I just put up with it for the few weeks a year i go hunting with that scope.

IMHO, altho a lot less features, my Sightron S3 6-24 is much clearer and focused edge to edge.

For price point, the Zeiss v4 is a pretty darn nice scope - i have yet to see anything as clear at max power for that price point - and crystal clear at low power

I'm running a Sightron Slll SS 8-32×56 on my Tikka Varmint .223, it's an amazing peice of glass

They run about 1600$ ish new but seen a few used ones for half that, I highly recommend you look at Sightron

I've got an extra Riton X7 Conquer 3-18x50mm for sale if you're interested. I've got one on a .223 and one on my girlfriend's .308 and they're really wicked value for the money and it's well below your budget.

It is a 34mm tube as well. MRAD/Mils

No one is asking about target size….that means more than distance to me.

I’ve shot 32x at 50y. It’s really not that hard with a front and rear rear. Do half of you guys suffer from tremors or 8lb triggers in here? You can also hit a target at 1000 with irons,as long as it’s big enough to see!

Yup, our DCRA /ICFRA traget have an aiming mark of 44" IIRC, and a Vbull of 1MOA for 1,000.
ICFRA Fclass is 1/2 MOA Vbull.
