scope suggestions for 10/22

thanks for the suggestion d.bala,

Goose25, my budget would be anywhere from 100 to 300. but feel free to suggest anything worth putting on a 10/22. I only mentioned "inexpensive" because I just spent $520 on a used smith a wesson revolver, and don't really want to spend a lot so fast, but I can save up over some time. It's not like I need a scope right away also.

thanks for the replies

is this for a hunting rig?If so what you hunting and at what range? gophers? bunnies? grouse? bench gun? paper puncher? plinker? all of the above?what do you plan on doing with this rifle?

answer these to help narrow it down.

It kind of depends what you're using the gun for. Hunting, Plinking, or target shooting? A Tasco Varmint 2.5-10x would be a much better choice for all around hunting/plinking, especially close up or in the bush, then a Tasco Varmint 6-24x unless of course you shoot mostly gopher's.

well so far this would just be for target/plinking, whatever. I also wouldn't mind being equipped for shooting gophers/grouse at good distance. I thought .22 wasn't a good hunting caliber, but hey I'd give it a try if it works. also, what range will I be shooting? I'm not sure, is 100 yds far, I don't know

thanks for all your help!

Tasco 2.5-10x42mm mildot AO. I use one on my 1022T and regularly make shots at 125M and farther......on gophers (Richardsons Ground Squirrels) and with the right scope, .22LR is quite capable of this distance.....This set up works for me...

I just bought a new bushnell banner 3.5x10x36 AO from willwagspal here on CGN, great price, really happy with the scope, can dial the AO down to 10 yards if need be. Here's a pic with it on my 10/22.

That's a nice looking gun!

Scope? The Banners are very good scopes for a 10/22 and I'd go with a Dusk & Dawn 4 X 32. But, for that matter, the Sportsman would be fine, too and for the same price you could get a 3-9 X 40.

I like the previously mentioned Tasco Target/Varmint 2.5-10x42. I mounted that on my girlfriends HB .22LR and on my brother's Stevens .223 and they have perfromed exceptionally well on both rigs. I can only recommend it!

Yep, I tend to agree with the Tasco Varmints, too. They're about the same price as the Bushnells mentioned above. I've got a Tasco Target / Varmint that I'm mounting on my Stevens 200 in .223 although it's a 10-40 X 50... :D

hey! alright, I just got back from the local gun store with a tasco varmint/target 2.5-10x42. Thanks for all the help guys, I'm now going to mount this bad boy and hopefully get it sighted in today. I'll get some pics up once I finish everything. Thanks again for all your help!

Cool, good luck with it. Where did you buy it and how much?

X2,

the 2.5X is great for hunting and short range shots with the AO set at 20 yards, and it can be cranked up to 10x and the AO set for any range you wish to shoot. I have a couple of these scopes and they are great.

Tasco varmint/target 2.5-10x42 AO
Bushnell Banner 4-12x40 AO

Yes, all good choices for an inexpensive all around general purpose .22 scope. I know, I own all of these ones. :)

And nothing wrong with higher quality optics then these ones if you choose to go that route, or even a higher magnification scope like a 6-24x if you own a target quality rimfire.
