Guys,

I just bought a CZ 455 Tacticool (last years discontinued model with the 20" barrel) and I want some suggestions as to what glass I should put on it. I have the 22 barrel on it right now but I will be putting a 17 HMR barrel on it at some point.

I am hoping it will be a tack driver like my CZ 452 Varmint (which has a $200 Vortex 3-9x40 Diamondback scope on it), so I want to put some fairly nice glass on it. If money were no object I'd like to put my Sightron SIII on it but I'd like to keep my budget to the $500-600 range tops.

My only requirements are that it tops out above 10x, parallax adjustment isn't a necessity but it would be nice.

I've had Bushnell Elite 3000 series, and while they aren't bad I don't like the parallax adjustment being out front on the objective lens, same with the lower end Sightron models.

I have been looking hard at the Vortex HS 4-16x44 BDC, but I was wondering what you guys have on your more accurate 22's and 17's. I don't have any scope experience other than with Vortex, Bushnell and Sightron. And I though that there is probably a gem or two out there that I am overlooking?

Thanks!

I put a 3x9 version on my Model 64 to replace the ancient Weaver 4x that couldn't hold 0 anymore. It's a fantastic scope, It's crisp and clear out to 200 yards. Paralax adjustment, red or green illumination. Includes a battery and spare battery for the illumination.

Edit: Prophet may even have CZ rings as well, that's where i got them for my 455.

In that price range, a vortex viper HST maybe? I am putting together a tactical type cz 455 and am using a Zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50 with target turrets. If you could up your price range just a little, there have been used ones for 750-800 on the ee. Well worth the money. You will be able to identify which organ it is flying out of that gopher. :p

Watching this thread closely as I have a 455 Varmint .17HMR on the way. I was thinking Sightron SIIB 4-16X42 HHR, but I am unsure at this time.

Lots of talk about the Vortex line, but I have zero experience with Vortex...

I think the good German scopes are maybe more than I want to spend for a rimfire rifle, I would love to put one on a hunting rifle though. I do like the Vortex HS-T series, I prob won't be using the tactical turrets for the ranges I'll be shooting at but the reticules are nice for doing holdovers and a little wind estimating.

I have 5 of their scopes so far, they have performed very well so far on my hunting rifles. I have a 4-16x50 PST on a tactical rifle and I like it. They are hard to beat for the money and handy little features. My Sightron SIII outdoes even the Vortex PST in the glass quality though. Hands down its much better glass.

If I was to choose sightron for the 455 the Sightron SII 4-16x42 HHR is the one I was looking at too. I think its a decent reticule.

So I ended up getting the EGW rail and a Sightron SII 4-16x42 HHR, Hirsch Precision is great to deal with and have really good prices on Sightron optics. I mounted it in low rings and it sits quite nice, I have good eye relief and the bolt handle doesn't come closer than about .200-.250" from the scope. The glass looks pretty clear, but I haven't had it outside to try out the zoom. All in all I am happy so far that I went with this over a lower end Vortex.

So to see how it works on gophers!!
