So, I picked up a NM Springfield this January and have now picked up an Arms18 mount. Next, to pick and purchase some glass for it. I went with the arms as it's low enough to shoot irons, and I already have an M14.ca mount on my Norc. I may shoot irons with it once in awhile, but seeing as my eyes are not as good as they were pre 40 years old I want some glass for it. And suggestions? I have not really set a budget as of yet, thinking between 500-1500. I will narrow it down once I see what other have to say. Thanks for the input :)

I just put a bushnell elite tactical 4200 3-12x44 on a m14 with a arms18 and love it. Puts you about in the middle of your budget as well.

Really depends on what you want to use the rifle for. Any idea on what you would like for magnification range? Plan on shooting targets at unknown distances? Hunting? Hunting paper? Some guys really like the fixed 10x bushnell on the m14, and it can be had for about 230$ new. Vortex, Leupold, Bushnell, Zeiss... All make very nice scopes in your price range. Bang for the buck it's really hard to beat a Sightron in my opinion. Try to look through a few scopes and find out what your eye likes best.

Have fun shopping!

I got the trijicon TR23-2 accupoint's 5-20x50 on my m25's and it's fantastic glass for the cash, I have three on rifles right now and just purchased another for when my modern hunter is completed. The first ones I bought when the dollar was good put it right in the middle of your budget, the one I just bought is around the the top end of your budget but worth it IMO.

Leupold Mk4 2.5-8x36 in low Arms 22 rings. It sits VERY low. 2-3 clicks of up elevation and the apeture will contact the scope. At least thats what i did with mine. Lots of good options out there though. Leupold, Sightron, Vortex, even Bushnell. It all depends on what you want your rifle to do for you and budget.

I'll see if i can find a picture.

Went with the Vortex Viper HST 4x16x44. I may still put this on something eles, But, gonna give it a try and see what I think. Hopefully it will be what I was hopin for. Thanks for the suggestions.

I picked up a conquest HD5 5-25x50 Z800 to try out just need to figer out ring size wonder what the Smallest ring I can get a way with ?

I think I'd go with one of these

Leupold Mk4_3_5-10x40_LRT in Tactical Milling Reticle and no illumination. They have a model with illumination, but I don't care for the idea myself.

2nd choice as suggested by Reflex above

The Lupy 2.5-8 mark 4. It has no parallax but it's smaller, lighter and less intrusive. But almost the same price as the 3.5-10, in my opinion that's just a bit steep for this little guy. If size and weight are your concern, go with this. (but then if SAW was your concern an M1a would not be in your closet, right) If you just want a sweet scope that totally compliments the tacticool persona of the M1a, go with the 3.5-10

Now I would feel remiss not to mention this one. Fairly new from Burris. XTR II™ Riflescope 2-10x42mm. It's maybe a bit less expensive than the Lupies and seems to have some good reviews. It has the looks too. (Cuz that's important.. for picking up chics)

34 mm tube and 90 minutes of elevation. 2 x on the low end is awesome.

Check out the Burris web site - they have a full line of similar models.

I have the 3.5-10 X 40 LRT M3 and it the same scope Smith, LRB sell for M14 rifles. Also used by US military. 1 MOA clicks dial up range quickly and in theory the most you can be out is 5" at 1000 yds. That is if your rifle shoots MOA. It's a good choice.
