Scope Suggestions

Looking for suggestions on a scope for my .223 sporter. It will be used for gophers and target shooting. I have a Burris FF II 4.5-14 and was wondering if that would do the job?

Sure, it will work fine. I have a .222 with one of the original Burris Fullfield scopes in 4X12 that gets used a lot for gophers. Sometimes I wish I had just a little more magnification, but you should be able to see gophers quite well out to 300 yards or so with a 14X scope.

I also like the Burris scopes. Good bang for the buck. 4.5-14 is a very wide variable range so at full zoom you may loose image sharpness but at lower magnification it should work well.

What would be the optimum magnification for the .223? I have been hearing of guys shooting p-dogs out past 500yds with it.
