Does anyone know of a scope tech that does repairs and upgrades to scopes, Someone who is competitive (quality work at a reasonable price) and would do upgrades likes reticle changes & repairs to scopes that are not eligible for warranty service but still worth repairing?

I know Trace Scope Repair does good work on old Weavers. I'm not sure if he'll take on other stuff but I think he knows what he can and can't do and I would trust him not to take on something he can't do.

Korth is the appointed agent for Leupold. Again, I don't know if they are exclusive, but likewise, I expect they know what they are doing.

Its likely not worth the cost if your optic is older or low end. Generally quality optics can be worked on by the manufacturer and usually have to be to maintain warranty.

Tanks, I should clarify... Korth is kind of the issue as they will not warranty scopes from outside of Canada. Which has me thinking no warranty anyway maybe quality upgrades like reticle and turrets can be had for less, Korth pretty much wants the price of the scope for such upgrades.

Yes, the warranty work has become an issue for Korth. Not sure what their arrangement is exactly with Leupold, as I would expect normally a repair agent gets paid by the manufacturer for warranty work, and if it isn't under warranty, the customer pays. In the latter case, perhaps they have enough to do and are using deterrent pricing to discourage customers from wanting modifications and upgrades. Since they are the importer/distributor, their main profit comes from people buying more Leupolds, not modifying their old ones.

I asked Trace about changing the reticle in one of my old Weavers and was warned it is pretty expensive because it's a lot work (basically everything would have to be dismantled and recalibrated when reassembled) for the model I have and thus pretty expensive.

Unfortunately, if there is an independent who can and will work on your Leupold for less, he probably can't get replacement parts at a reasonable price, or they might not supply them at all.

I could see that being the case for parts wich is too bad.
