OK, so I picked up one of those Tasco red dot sites from Canadian Tire for my .22. So I pack it up, and head out to the boonies to go shooting and I get out there, get out my .22 and remove the old scope that was on it. BUT the mount on the site does not fit on the grooves on the rifle. The rifle is an old mossberg from the mid 50's that my dad had kicking around, a great shooter, but finicky about ammo. Anyways, the grooves on the rifle are too narrow for the mount on the site, is there a base I can get that fits the grooves and has the larger base on it? I remember seeing something like that, but it was a while and I am not sure.

Oh, the reason I did not fit the site on the rifle ahead of time, is because I hade another scope that I was not sure if it was broken or not, so I was gonna tr the scope and put the red dot on later, Stupid I know.

I'm sure others sell them but D&L being in Vancouver works for me....you could try searching google to see who else makes and sells adapter rails....

The reason I didn't suggest rings is I was guessing that your red dot has a built in clamp and is non removable?
If your red dot uses typical rings then buying rimfire rings would be another option as Levi suggests.

Will get the same effect from super high dovetail rings, what am I missing here, you got a bunch of weaver style rings for ctr fire rifles?.
Go millet, or lynx, or leapers, or b-square, etc....

...maybe what you are missing here is this part?

I just assumed he had one of those red dot's where you don't use rings......he all ready said he had another scope mounted so he at the very least has some 1 inch rimfire rings availlable....so I'm thinking either integral mounts or maybe 30mm

 You are failing to see the opportunity that is right in front of your face: What you need is another gun to fit that red dot sight.

Tasco sells two different RedDot scopes that are identical besides the mount. One has a standard weaver mount and the other has the standard rimfire dovetail mount. Maybe you grabbed the wrong one.

Well I did just send out the MO for my SKS, maybe after i shoot irons for a while I will want to spruce it up for a while.

It was the only one CT had, for 49 bucks (39 after they lost the box, its display model) I figured why not. I am a complete idiot when it comes to optics and did not know about the different sizes. But oh well, if I can find a adapter great, if not, my new SKS get an upgrade. I did just sight in the scope on the .22 after I found out it still works (its a pellet gun scope, works really well actually)
