Scoped Henry .22WMR

I got my scope on. Second trip to the range today. It was -1deg and calm. I was using CCI 40gr HP at 1875fps. The rifle is a Henry Frontier .22WMR with a Leupold 2-7x28. The two distances were 109 yards (100 metres) and 218 yards (200 metres).

Bullet drop from 50m to 100m is just over 2 inches and to 200m is just over 25 inches. I sighted in at 50m and adjusted by eye for the longer distances. The bottle cap is for size reference.

I have not had this much fun with a .22 in a very long time. I really never thought about shooting beyond 100m. Talk about rainbow shots ;-) Now for more practice tomorrow. (Sorry for the picture sizes.)

Rimfire is where it is at for "cheap" fun... love my Henry rifles... they are unanimously top choice for fun by those that shoot my guns at the range... both by new shooters and experienced shooters...

I always thought the lever was loads of fun. But the open sights on my Henry were off. I had to shoot 4 inches high and to the right to get close to center at 50m. Fun yes....but disappointing. I was going to drift the front sight until someone on another forum suggested I scope the Henry. I did it and I'm glad I did. My first 10 shots to 200m, I hit paper 4 times. Eye adjusting sight-in;-)

I'm taking a friend to the range tomorrow, but I really want to try out to 300m. Bullet drop is something like 75 inches. Challenging! Since my .308 Remy is being worked on and my ATRS modern hunter is being made, my new found fun with the .22 is keeping me busy. And it helps me practice fundamental shooting techniques. I would only be plinking with the SKS's and a VZ58 through the winter, this is a great way to keep busy!
