Some may call me Bubba but this original mosin sniper rifle needed some care. I bought it for less than the current retail price on these and when I opened the box I understood why. It was in pieces and the forestock bands were not in place. Stock finish was peeling and scratched up.

It took quite a bit of work to remove all the old finish and refinish the stock using lindseed oil. There were numerous little cartouche markings still intact once all the old finish came off including a nice 1943 date stamp on the butt stock. Here is how it ended up.

Not as refined a rifle as the No. 4 T, but they were allies once and still enjoy each others company!

I am looking forward to see how accurate this mosin shoots.

I wouldn't call that bubba work at all.

While linseed oil isn't the original finish, I think it's a forgivable alternative. ;) I'm not a big fan of shellac either.
