Scoped SKS

I bought a Wartak Skar rail and a Barska 3-9x42 milldot red/green scope. Will the kick of the gun break the scope?

kick meaning recoil i assume....and when it comes to scopes, you get exactly what you pay for.....you're better off to pay bigger once then small a bunch of times. the sks is very mild on recoil comparatively to other calibres, however Barska scopes are inexpensive (cheap) scopes and you're spinning the wheel of lady luck regarding how long it will last mounted on ANYTHING.
time will tell whether it will hold or not. my bet is the recoil as limited as it is will allow the scope to function as it should JUST long enough to find zero.

An SKS has no 'kick'. Mind you, scoping one isn't a good use of money. It will not improve accuracy and it'll alter the balance. It will only allow you to see the target better though.

What's the model of Barska? They also make scopes rated for air rifles, which are much tougher on scopes than even bigger cal guns than your 7.62. If so, you'd be more than fine.

I just saw this set-up in person and of all the available scope mounts for SKS, this is by far the best and seem most stable as you have front and rear locking points , it is also the most expensive. Maybe you'll get what you paid for : ).

I don't know why everyone loves the wartec I had to get one, everyone says oh so good. POS in my opinion. if it was made out of STEEL it probably would be ok. after I assembled it, I could flex it down 1/2" easy in the middle with minimal preasure. sorry not for me, not even close to tough enough

I got the wartak rail mounted on my chinese military sks. Put a vortex scope with bdc recticle on it. Can now shoot 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards and I'm not an expert shot by any means. You will enjoy it

not to poke the bear,,, but really should be able to do that good or dam near that good with open sites.

Until you get past your mid 30s and your cornea isn't as soft/flexible as it used to be, and multi-plane focus gets harder, not to mention slower.

I can shoot accurately with open sights. More accurately than some of my friends can with optics. I can shoot more accurately and quicker with optics. Your mileage may vary. Everyone is different. Don't be a snob.
