Scopeing a #5 Enfield

Easiest way to get it: go directly to S & K's website, buy directly from them; the mount for an Enfield, IIRC, is around $70.

There is always a possibility of some degree of variation in dimensions of the rear sight area of the receiver due to manufacturing tolerances. Some shimming might be needed to compensate for the individual rifle. All that I can report is that S&K mounts on both a P14 and a LB No4 remained rock solid for me.Back to the Weaver TO1.I've had one on a No5 since about 1962.At one point in it's history I did need to re-seat the front screw with lock-tite.Trouble free since then.

Wow this post got got some good legs under it, I've been really happy with the S&K mount on my k98 Mauser, think I'll see if Milarm has one in stock as it's where I bought the other one if not go from S&K, worst case scenario its pretty cheap if I decide I don't like it.

grab a drill and a tap set, some weaver rings and bases, and a cheap scope. Bushnell sells some for around $50. You'll have yourself a nice sniper in no time!:D

Actually, check 'gunbroker'. I've seen some no-smith mounts there that attatch to the charger bridge and the receiver ring and look reasonable.

Vonschmoot, I've heard that a shorter barrel flexes less than a longer one, making them inherently more accurate. I'd like to see how this no.5 performs!

Ollie...Ollie....Ollie................bite your tongue, never say drill and tap anywhere near an Enfield. You ought'a know better.:D
