Scopeing a military Mauser?

I am wondering if it is possible to have a scope mounted on a modle 1922 Brazilian Mauser using the rear sight mount as a place to mount the scope mounts. The scope would be a scout style scope and I would like to remove these mounts and be able to reinstall the rear sight if needed. Has anyone done this and does any body know of a gunsmith around Edmonton who would do this.

I have a 98k Mauser done in the way you describe and it can be easily done with the instructions that come with the mount.

It very easy to do and undo, you do not need a gunsmith. I have done it in about 15 minutes on a K98.

Where did you get these mounts, were they from a Canadian source?

They work great and save all the costs of a gunsmith, and the sudden halving of value once bubba has irreperably altered a milsurp. Just make sure your scope has good eye relief.
