Scopes... for close calls

Red dot or reflex isn't half bad in thick stuff up close...

Otherwise, I'd say a scout scope would work for close-to-medium ranges.

Pretty much any variable with the low power being 1x. Or maybe 1.5x. Super easy to use with both eyes open.

How much do you want to spend? The nightforce one is really nice...

The Leupold mentioned earlier would work good, with QR rings, and iron sights, you'll be prepared if Murphy's law comes up.

I use a 1.75-6 Leupold for stomping around in thick stuff, looking for things that can stomp back. A couple things I like better than the straight tubed wonders is that is it quite a bit brighter, and when you wander out into the open you still have 6X for a long poke.

1-4 the best you can afford, the leupold can really seem like you are looking down a little tube but still a good optic, burris makes a good one might be 1-6, if you really are in potentially dangerous situations then the NF is one. crystal clear glass, true 1x magnification, 30mm tube, great eye relief, illuminated reticle if needed, and large field of view. if its simply for bambi's then lesser than NF is not a sacrifice.

The old Weaver K2.5 and K3 scopes are nice. They have a good 4.25" inches of eye relief if your caliber is a heavy recoiler. Get duplex crosshairs, or a post crosshair (makes things faster to line-up in the scope).
