Scopes with massive elevation adjustments

I was planning on a 500 yrd zero and I've been eyeing the Vortex Razor HD line, specifically the Gen II 4.5-27x56. I was also looking at the US Optics offerings, but I can't find anything with enough elevation that's available here in Canada (don't really want to deal with importing hassles).

Insite Arms is a USO dealer. Andy and Harley are great to deal with. And the USO will have nearly double the usable MOA of any Vortex offering due to the resettable zero. But drink the Vortex coolaid if thats what you are set on......

Something about this makes me think of the saying, "fake it til you make it"... Thanks for the suggestion but I'm going to stick with a scope with adequate built in elevation adjustment.

Baha. That is funny. Since Dmay is one of the few guys on this forum actually pounding steel at 2600yards plus, and that was the same optical device the Canadian sniper used to set the new world record at 4400yards plus, I would think they both "made it".....

Sightron SIII6-24 has around 100 MOA of travel.. The LRMOA adds more. Plenty of glass to spot a milk jug sized target at 1 mile. Not sure how big a target you will be using but MOA scaled targets will be no problem to view. The SV is a gem with more travel then other high mag scopes but it less then the 6-24. I really like mine.

I made a mechancial scope base when I was into ELR years back. It worked but you are going to start to loose resolution around 200mins.

Today, I wouldn't bother with an "adjustable" base per se... just one that I can move the elevation in steps and lock it down. Say flat for sightin and such, then shim to 100
or 200mins and have at it. The scope takes care of the inbetween.

I would so strongly recommend the Burris XTR signature rings. There is another 40MOA or so of scope shim possible.

Your comb better have alot of travel as well.... and eventually, the barrel blocks your scope view. That told me, that was far enough.... :)

Snipershide has a great write up on the Charlie Tarac device.

David Tubb was using it at the king of 2 miles and that guy might know a thing or two about shooting.

Dmay might be able to explain it better but based on what I have read the Tarac allows for huge elevation adjustments without greatly compromising your shooting position (having your ocular super high due to the very angled base).

I think they run like $1,500 USD.

Tangent theta 5-25 made in canada top tier glass and lots of travel will be a good match, i have a premier 3-15 tangent theta bought them out for the engineering i believe, it has 28 mil on a 20moa rail which is huge travel.

+1 to this.

Love my 5-25. Will probably never part with it.
