Getting a 375 H&H. I have 2 scopes laying around and wondering if they will "cut" the recoil.

- Burris Fullfield 11 in 3-9x40
- Bushnell Elite 3000 in 3-9x40

I way prefer the reticle in the Burris though. Friend just purchased a Zeiss with a illuminated German 60 reticle. Thinner than the 4 and sweet. Cannot swallow the $1500 price tag though.

Ive read that others like the Leupold v3 2.5-8x36... but I like a thinner reticle. Opinions ???????????????

bushnell elites should hold recoil for 375.
i have vortex viper 2.5x10 on 340 weatherby mag and it holds like champ and i even dropped it on a ground.
Leupold is always been there and been tested with so many hunters so you would know it works.
as long as you are not using walmart quality bushnell or burris at 100-200 dollars, most name brand scopes will hold its ratical fine.

I have a 1-4x20 leupold on my 375, i think the lower power scopes are more suited to a bigger bore rifle. At 200 yards on a moose 4x is still plenty of magnification. IMO

I would reccomend the Leupold VX3 1.75x6.It's probably the toughest scope they make and very popular with the big bore guys hunting in Africa.I had one on my .350 Rem Mag with no problems, and from what I hear you wouldn't have problems either. It also offers you 6x in the upper range,to take advantage of the .375s flat trajectory with lighter bullets.Leupold in Alberta can also change reticles for you if you find you don't like the one it comes with....Mur

I put a cheap scope on my 375 once due to that was all I had around at the time. It holds zero for a while. But I have never figured out if it is the scope or the rings Ruger supplies as it shoots fine at targets once you get it back to zero.

For value the Bushnell 4200 Elite in 1.24-4 is a clear, tough scope. I had one on my 416 Rigby whitout issue and the Rigby is probably a little more lively than the 375 in the recoil department.

My 375 wears a 1.5X5 Leupold straight tube scope for several reasons... I would not be trying to make any shots exceeding 300 yds so it is adequate within that distance, its a tough scope and has lots of eye relief and being a straight tube it is mounted very low giving me a good comfortable cheek weld...

I had a Bushnell 3200 on my 7mm ultra mag for a few weeks. Scrambled the cross hairs after the first shooting session.

On my 375 Ruger, I have a VX-II 2x7 that works great. Holds the zero perfect, even if the rings seem to magically come loose
at the worst times.
